Let Nature Guide You

Stop Controlling and Start Allowing!

Have you ever tried to walk or swim against the current of a creek, river, or even waves in the ocean? It requires some effort, and after a while, it feels really HARD! Water is the most fluid of all the elements. It can change into many forms very quickly. It goes with a flow of allowing itself to be guided where it will go. It is constantly moving forward, endlessly moving into nooks, crannies of rocks, and caves, slowly and surely breaking down rocks into sand and carving into the landscape. We can learn a lot from water and from nature as a whole!

Nature teaches us valuable lessons about letting go of control and embracing a more allowing mindset.

Here are a few ways in which nature can help you learn to stop controlling and start allowing:

  1. Observing the natural flow: Nature operates in a harmonious rhythm, where everything has its own time and place. By observing the natural world, you can learn to surrender control and trust in events unfolding. Watch how plants grow, how seasons change, and how animals interact with their environment. Recognize that there is an innate wisdom in allowing things to progress naturally.

  2. Embracing impermanence: Nature is constantly changing. Seasons shift, weather patterns fluctuate, and landscapes transform. This impermanence teaches us that controlling and holding onto things is futile. Instead, learn to accept and flow with life's natural ebb and flow. Embracing impermanence can help you let go of the need for control and find peace in the present moment.

  3. Connecting with the present moment: Nature has a way of captivating our attention and bringing us into the present moment. Whether watching a sunset, listening to the sounds of a forest, or feeling the breeze on your skin, immersing yourself in nature can help quiet the mind and bring peace. In these moments, you can learn to let go of controlling thoughts and be present and receptive.

  4. Cultivating patience: Nature operates on its own timeline, teaching us the value of patience. Trees take years to grow, flowers bloom in their time, and ecosystems develop gradually. When you immerse yourself in nature, you learn to appreciate the beauty of patience and allow things to unfold at their own pace. This can translate into your life, where you can practice patience and trust.

  5. Embracing interconnectedness: Nature demonstrates the interconnectedness of all living beings. Every organism plays a role in the ecosystem, and each element relies on others for survival and balance. By recognizing this interdependence, you can learn to let go of the illusion of control and embrace the idea that your actions and decisions are just a part of a larger tapestry. This understanding can help you release the need for excessive control and allow life to flow more naturally.

Remember that learning to let go of control and allow things to unfold doesn't mean being passive or giving up on your goals. It's about finding a balance between taking action when necessary and accepting the outcomes that are beyond your control.

Nature can be a powerful teacher guiding you towards this more allowing mindset.

What is your favorite way to connect to nature, and how can you use that connection to develop a mindset of ALLOWING rather than controlling?
